I can start thinking about the real meaning of environmental sustainability. For me, it is like living a life in a way that I can help our planet without causing damages so my daughters can have a future world. I appreciate what Microsoft says about it: “It is the ability to maintain an ecological balance in our planet’s natural environment and conserve natural resources to support the well-being of current and future generations” (Microsoft Website). The first step of understanding is really important.
Going beyond understanding is putting acts into practice to live with that principle. Here, I want again to quote some suggestions given by Microsoft: “Take steps to enhance efficiencies, reduce resource consumption and waste, and measure and monitor carbon emissions across the entire supply chain.” In words, it can sound good, but putting it into practice can be a little complicated depending on our local circumstances.
I want to finish with a few suggestions for small steps we can take in our daily lives. For example, reduce water waste while brushing your teeth, turn off devices when not in use, recycle, try to walk instead of using a vehicle, or use a bike if possible. Also, grow a plant outside your home. I know that these ideas are easy to talk about, but we can be a great example for our neighbors, especially recognizing that it is for our future generations. Now, it’s up to you.
