One year ago, I was facing some tough personal challenges. I had just earned my Bachelor’s Degree from BYU-Idaho, and while I had work experience through personal projects, freelancing, and team collaborations, I wasn’t sure I was ready for what came next. Then, I received an invitation to work as a Backend Developer.
I felt afraid.
Most of my previous work had been focused on frontend design. Although I had developed full stack applications using technologies like PHP and Node.js (Express and EJS), I still felt uncertain about diving fully into backend development. But life had placed me at a crossroads — and I had a family depending on me. So, I chose to push through my fear and accept the challenge.
Now, a year later, I can confidently say that it’s been a transformative journey. To be honest, I’ve discovered that I actually enjoy backend development more than frontend! 😄
During this time, I’ve gained valuable experience in:
- RESTful API development
- Microservices architecture
- Server deployment and management
- Working with databases like SQL Server
- Exploring powerful frameworks like LoopBack 4 and Nest.js
Each challenge brought growth, and I’ve realized how powerful it is to keep learning. I don’t know what the future holds, but this past year has taught me the importance of staying curious, resilient, and generous in sharing knowledge.
As one of my favorite songs says:
“When the world says you can’t, it’ll tell you that you can.”
I continue learning every day, and when I find a bit of time, I love to share insights through my blog. If you’re curious about tech, development, or just want to follow my journey, feel free to check it out:👉 https://marantbq.dev/blog/
Don’t forget to check out my personal blog for more insightful articles in both English and Spanish. Additionally, I offer a free course on YouTube in Spanish, where I teach WordPress & DIVI fundamentals.
